Heard of the FAT HAT Collective? #music

I discovered the FAT HAT Collective at Soul Circus Festival this year and their music is festival infectious!

The Fat Hat Collective are a group of bands from the UK’s South West joined together at the trunk to promote peace, love and quality live music. Individually they’ve been a strong presence on the festival circuit for years, both in the UK and Europe, with shows including Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Boomtown Fair, Nozstock, Beatherder, Shamble and the list goes on. In 2014 they established the Collective to continue to bring the vibes to Bristol post-festival season and all year round and have since been running regular nights locally showcasing the diverse range of talent Bristol has to offer. The Fat Hat Collective and are now growing to cover more artists.. Support the music people – there is a lot of talent and great vibes from there guys – they are the festival troopers that keep you dancing with festival smiles.

At Soul Circus Festival we saw so many great acts – first off check out Maxi Rai bringing her fusion of folk, blues and soul – found this wicked little cover she did at How the Light Gets In – she’s got such a cool style.

Get your knees in to swing with this little treasure, that is the swinging dance ensemble Lounge Cat Ideals

Mr Tea and the Minions and their cheeky Balkan party sounds – they literally make you jump and dance around in circles bumping in to everyone – the perfect upbeat festival feel that will get your toes twinkling.

We discovered the heavy immersive bass dub sounds of Mount Nakara bringing sound system culture to the stage which is exactly where it should be.

Regime headlined on the Friday at Soul Circus Festival , blending social and political commentaries with hip hop, reggae and rock to make you jump, laugh and think. – this is so good!! braaappp

Saturday’s live sounds kicked off with haunting harmonies, toe-tapping rhythm and twisted folk in the shape of Snufkin – who i can believe it but i actually ran in to camden on my way to the Roundhouse festival in June – their sounds are hypnotics and resonate within you as their sweet harmonies intoxicate you and leave you frozen in a daze drinking in every moment.

Bin Bag Wisdom – how cool are these guys! They bring their acoustic hip hop to the ground… bag up that wisdom ’nuff time

And when Ruby Confue takes the stage she leads you on a journey of jazz, net-soul & psychedelic rock

Turning up the tempo is Mama Jerk and the Ladyfingers who deliver infectious French infused stompers with fat dub baselines – catch the flavour…!

Continuing the party vibes is Crinkle Cuts and their mix of funk, latin, reggae and ska.

The Inexplicables – watch out for them as i’m sure they’ll be rocking it next summer and heading some more festivals.. the dance-inducing, smile-enhancing unique blend of beat box, raw bass and rich sax melodies with sumptuous vocals.

You like it.. you la la la like it i can tell – We’ll catch up with Fat Hat when they’ve got next seasons dates in and let you know how to chase them down, but in the meantime.. if you happen to be in Bristol Town…check out their nights for some festival sounds.
