LONDON BOAT FESTIVAL - CANALWAY CAVALCADE
02-04 MAY 2015 I LITTLE VENICE, LONDON I
Little Venice Canalway Cavalcade has a special place in my heart. I first found out about it when i was living on a Dutch barge here (aka. the pirate ship) I awoke this time last year to being a tourist attraction and surrounded for three days by hoards and hoards of tourists - it was great feeling like a celebrity.. but it does get tiring when people shout and cheer every time they realise someone is on the boat! I snuggled up in my hammock, neon pink yarn bombed the boat and danced to the rock n roll band at night whilst another boat threw a spotlight on me. This year it was the same buzz - traditional narrowboats all lined up in a row, doing rounds around Little Venice Island (they call it the pool, but i just invented this name - lets give it some class eh) and live rock n' roll music.
There is fun for all the family here in what is a free festival day out, fun for the children with the park gardens adjacent to the canal transformed with water-based rides. I wanted a go in a mini hovercraft, but sadly they said i was 'oversized'. There are lots of little stalls where you can buy anything from hammocks, deck shoes, sausages to vintage fashion and if you can't be bothered with any of that.. Get over to the beer tent.
P.S it's been going since 1983.. so they're doing something right
FIX? A great day out for all the family, stay for the rock n' roll band in the evening - it's worth it
HOT OR NOT: HOT
